About Tech Gals

A podcast for women, minorities, allies, and all those aspiring or currently in tech. Tech Gals is hosted by Maddy Chen, a current student and aspiring engineer. It’s no secret that the tech industry lacks diversity and representation. She was inspired to create this podcast because she believes that it’s easier to feel like you belong when you see (or hear!) others who’ve experienced or overcome similar obstacles.

Tech Gals became that vehicle where she could help share and showcase stories of women and other minorities in tech.

There’s the “brogrammer” and the “tech bros” - here’s to the tech gals.

ABOUT THE HOST

Hi! I’m Maddy - I’m currently studying Data Science and Economics at UC Berkeley (next to all the tech giants in Silicon Valley!)

Throughout my education and professional experiences, I’ve often felt an internal and external pressure that I didn’t belong in STEM or tech. As a result, I wanted to reach out to various industry role models and leaders to listen to their experiences. Instead of just having me learn from their experiences, I realized that creating a podcast would allow others to listen too - that’s how Tech Gals was born.

Outside of school, you’ll usually find me speed walking through campus, shopping at Trader Joes, daydreaming about my next travel adventure, or weightlifting at the gym.

I hope you all are excited to join me in this journey in navigating and exploring the enormous tech world together!
